Getting Started with WriteCited

Set up your account, configure your knowledge base, and generate your first AEO-optimized article in under 10 minutes.

WriteCited is an AEO content generator that creates articles structured to be cited by ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, and Google AI Overviews. This guide walks through your first session from account creation to published article.

Step 1 — Create your account

Go to writecited.com/signup. Enter your email and password. Your free plan starts immediately with full access to all features including AEO scoring, schema export, and all article formats. No credit card is required to start.

Step 2 — Complete your knowledge base

This is the most important setup step. Your knowledge base stores everything the AI needs to write accurately about your brand. Add the following before generating your first article:

    • Company name and description (2-3 sentences)
    • Your product or service category
    • Target audience — who you write for
    • Key differentiators — what makes you different
    • Tone of voice — professional, conversational, or technical
    • Brand terms and proprietary definitions
    • Competitors to reference or avoid

The more detail you add, the more accurate every article will be. You only set this up once.

Step 3 — Generate your first article

Go to the Articles page. Select your content type, enter your target keyword, set your word count and audience, then click Generate. WriteCited produces a title selection first — choose the option that best matches your intent. Your full article, AEO Score, and schema markup are ready in under 2 minutes.

Step 4 — Review your AEO Score

Before exporting, check your AEO Score. Aim for 75 or above. If your score is below 75, the score breakdown shows exactly which component is pulling it down.

Step 5 — Export and publish

Export in your preferred format — Markdown, HTML, or plain text. Copy the JSON-LD schema block separately and paste it into your page head before publishing. See Exporting and Publishing for CMS-specific instructions.
